Filmfare Middle East Announces New Ownership Under Kris Ankem with Emirates Partnership

From June 2025, Filmfare Middle East enters an exciting new chapter under the ownership and leadership of Kris Ankem, who takes on the role of CEO. This marks a significant milestone for the legacy brand, which has been a cornerstone of entertainment and lifestyle in the Middle East for over six years.
The announcement also comes with the news of a strategic partnership with Emirates Airlines, aligning with Filmfare Middle East’s first major event under the new leadership, Restaurants Night 2025, to be hosted at the iconic Atlantis hotel in Dubai.
Kris Ankem, a seasoned entrepreneur with more than a decade of diverse professional experience, brings a wealth of knowledge to the franchise. He previously served as the Head of Digital for the IPL team Deccan Chargers and has worked with prestigious organizations including American Express, Marriott International, and ITC Limited. His background blends innovation, marketing, and business growth, setting a strong foundation for Filmfare Middle East’s expansion.
In this new venture, Kris Ankem is partnering with Lalith Tayal of the Bharat Group, ensuring strong business backing and vision. Editorial leadership continues under Aakanksha Naval-Shetye, who serves as the editor-in-chief, preserving the brand’s editorial excellence.
The new direction for Filmfare Middle East will extend beyond its traditional focus on cinema. Under Ankem’s leadership, the franchise aims to penetrate SME markets and create value-added services for multiple industries. This broadened scope positions the brand as a dynamic player not just in entertainment, but also in business innovation, hospitality, and lifestyle.
With Emirates Airlines on board as a partner, Filmfare Middle East is set to elevate its global presence while bringing fresh opportunities and experiences to audiences and industries alike.
