The Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) has successfully completed the development and testing phase of the Emirates Lunar Mission’s Rashid Rover 2, marking a major milestone in the UAE’s space exploration journey. Following extensive environmental and functional tests conducted in the UAE, the rover has now been dispatched to the United States to begin its next stage of preparations with Firefly Aerospace
Next Stop: The Far Side of the Moon-
Set for launch in 2026, the Rashid Rover 2 will travel aboard Firefly Aerospace’s lunar lander to explore the far side of the Moon a region that remains largely uncharted. This mission represents a significant leap for the UAE’s ambitions in scientific discovery and technological advancement within the global space community.

Earlier this year, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum witnessed the signing of a strategic agreement between MBRSC and Firefly Aerospace. This partnership underscores the UAE’s commitment to international cooperation in advancing lunar exploration and developing sustainable space technologies for the future.
