Sharjah Goes Fully Digital: Municipality Launches Redesigned Website and Eight New E-Services
Sharjah has taken a major leap toward digital governance with the launch of its newly redesigned municipality website and a suite of eight fully integrated online services. The initiative reflects the emirate’s commitment to offering advanced, seamless public services that minimise waiting times and ease the burden of traditional municipal procedures.
The launch event was attended by Salem Ali Al Mehairi, Chairman of Sharjah Municipal Council, Obaid Saeed Al Tunaiji, Director General of Sharjah Municipality, and several senior officials. Speaking at the ceremony, Al Tunaiji emphasised the role of digital transformation in enhancing everyday life. He noted that the municipality is dedicated to continuously upgrading its services to ensure residents and businesses can complete transactions “quickly, easily, and without unnecessary delays,” aligning with Sharjah’s broader smart-service strategy.
Dr. Jawaher Al Shehi, Director of the IT Department, highlighted that the revamped website is part of a broader digitalisation roadmap. The new platform aligns with the municipality’s visual identity and introduces a unified registration system for both individuals and companies. With a single account, users can now access multiple services seamlessly across all devices, ensuring accuracy and a more efficient customer journey.
Among the eight newly launched digital services are key municipal functions such as land settlement requests, new dirt road applications, and road or yard maintenance. These procedures, once dependent on manual paperwork and WhatsApp coordination, have now been fully digitised, dramatically cutting down processing times and improving service accuracy.
Additionally, the municipality has introduced a new advertising system that centralises five essential services into one unified e-platform. Customers can now issue, renew, amend, or track advertising permits online a move designed to streamline operations, reduce paper consumption, and eliminate the need for in-person visits. The platform supports applications for external advertising permits, company registrations, direct advertiser registrations, and related clearances, ensuring a smooth, end-to-end electronic process.
With its latest digital milestones, Sharjah continues to strengthen its position as a leading smart city, providing residents and businesses with efficient, accessible, and future-ready municipal services.
