WASHINGTON, September 13 – A startling new video has been released to Congress showing a U.S. military drone launching a missile at an unidentified flying object (UFO) over the coast of Yemen and failing to bring it down. The footage, revealed by Rep. Eric Burlison (R-MO), was provided by a whistleblower and has quickly become one of the most significant military-UFO encounters made public to date.
The October 2024 incident, previously undisclosed, captures an MQ-9 Reaper drone laser-designating a mysterious aerial object, which is then targeted by a Hellfire AGM-114 missile. “This is the first time we've seen a Reaper drone engaging a target like this in a real-world operation,” Rep. Burlison said, calling the video “staggering” and demanding further investigation. The footage is stamped with “LRD LASE DES,” a military term suggesting one Reaper designated the target for another drone’s missile strike standard procedure in coordinated drone operations.
Experts and commentators, including The War Zone (TWZ), have noted the precision and clarity of the encounter, which could serve as critical evidence in the growing debate around Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAPs). While no official comment has been issued by the Pentagon, the leak has reignited concerns about aerial threats, the limits of current weapons systems, and the lack of transparency surrounding UAP encounters in conflict zones.
Speculation online ranges from advanced enemy drones to non-human technology, with some even suggesting the incident could be part of a misinformation or psychological operation.
