BACA: Art Centre Opens the Solo Exhibition by Artist Jamal AbdulRahim
Manama : The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) is opening a powerful new solo exhibition titled “Savagery” by renowned Bahraini artist Jamal AbdulRahim at the Art Centre. The exhibition opens Monday, October 13 at 7 PM, and will run until October 27, open daily from 9 AM to 8 PM.
“Savagery” brings together 75 expressive artworks that reflect AbdulRahim’s signature style, blending oil colours, textures, and layered visuals to present a vivid artistic journey. The collection is described as an aesthetic and contemplative experience, capturing beauty in everyday simplicity while exploring profound human themes.
AbdulRahim, a native of Muharraq, still lives and works in the historic city, where he built both his home and studio. His artistic journey began after completing a diploma in technical drawing in India in 1984. Though he initially saw art as a hobby, his passion grew after participating in his first group exhibition at Al Hala Club in 1987.
He joined the Bahrain Arts Society in 1988, where he became fascinated with etching and printmaking, disciplines that significantly shaped his creative output. His first solo exhibition was held at the Society’s gallery in 1990, featuring sketches, oil paintings, and etchings. Since then, AbdulRahim has showcased his work across local, regional, and international exhibitions, and has received multiple awards throughout his career.
