Bahrain announces Eid Al Fitr holiday for public sector

His Royal Highness Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain, has issued an official circular announcing the Eid Al Fitr holiday for ministries, government departments, and public institutions across the kingdom.

According to the circular, all government entities will be closed on the day of Eid al-Fitr and the two days that follow, allowing public sector employees time to observe one of the most significant occasions in the Islamic calendar. The decision applies to ministries, government departments, and other public institutions throughout Bahrain.

Authorities said that because the Eid holidays will coincide with the weekend, government employees will receive two additional compensatory days off. The arrangement ensures that public sector staff receive the full holiday period in accordance with government regulations.

Eid Al Fitr marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, during which Muslims fast from dawn to sunset. The festival is traditionally celebrated with special Eid prayers, family gatherings, festive meals, and acts of charity. Across Bahrain and the wider Gulf region, the holiday is also a time for social visits, community events, and cultural celebrations.

Government circulars announcing Eid holidays are typically issued shortly before the end of Ramadan to allow institutions to coordinate their schedules and ensure the smooth continuation of essential services during the holiday period. The announcement enables public sector employees across Bahrain to plan their celebrations and spend time with family and loved ones during the festive days.
