Air Asia x confirms Bahrain hub launch in June, London route to resume

AirAsia X has reaffirmed its plans to establish a new operational hub in Bahrain, marking a significant step in the airline’s expansion beyond Asia.

The announcement follows earlier plans revealed in February, when the airline outlined its intention to resume flights from Kuala Lumpur to London via Bahrain. The route is scheduled to launch on June 26, positioning Bahrain as a strategic transit point connecting Southeast Asia with Europe.

The upcoming hub will be AirAsia X’s first base outside of Asia, highlighting the Kingdom’s growing importance as a regional aviation and logistics center. The airline confirmed that preparations remain on track for the June launch, despite ongoing regional challenges.

By routing flights through Bahrain, AirAsia X aims to enhance connectivity and offer more flexible travel options between major global destinations. The move is expected to benefit both transit passengers and the local aviation sector, contributing to increased passenger traffic and economic activity.

Industry observers note that the Bahrain hub could play a key role in strengthening the Kingdom’s position within international aviation networks while also supporting tourism and business travel.

AirAsia X emphasized its commitment to expanding its global footprint and leveraging strategic partnerships and locations to drive growth. The June launch marks a major milestone for the airline as it reintroduces long-haul connectivity between Asia, the Middle East, and Europe.
