HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Inspects Preparations for 3rd Asian Youth Games

Manama,  His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), President of the General Sports Authority (GSA), and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), conducted an inspection at Bahrain National Stadium to assess readiness of infrastructure and services in advance of the Third Asian Youth Games, slated for October 22–31 in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

He was joined by His Highness Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa (Vice President, GSA), His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa (Vice President, BOC), Dr. Abdulrahman Sadiq Askar (CEO, GSA), Faris Mustafa Al Kooheji (Secretary‑General, BOC), and Yousef Duaij (Chairman, Executive Committee, 3rd AYG).

HH Shaikh Khalid reviewed key competition and support facilities, including the athletics track, VIP grandstand, spectator seating, media platforms, athletes’ changing rooms, and ancillary services. He praised the progress made in preparing the stadium, emphasising that facility readiness is a core pillar for ensuring a successful Games. He urged for completion of all outstanding work to guarantee a world‑class competitive environment for Asian youth athletes, particularly in athletics, which he described as one of the most prominent sports in the Asian and Olympic programmes.

He extended best wishes for success to all participating nations and declared confidence in Bahrain’s capability to host the event at high standards.

The 3rd Asian Youth Games will be held in Bahrain from October 22 to 31, 2025, under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. The event will gather over 4,300 athletes from 45 National Olympic Committees, competing in 24 sports ranging from athletics and swimming to esports and martial arts. Competitions will take place across several major venues, including Bahrain National Stadium, Isa Sports City, Khalifa Sports City, the Bahrain International Exhibition & Convention Centre, Royal Golf Club, and other satellite locations. Notably, the opening ceremony will be held indoors for the first time at Exhibition World Bahrain, which will also host 11 of the sports. A nationwide promotional campaign has been launched, featuring branding across highways, airports, and public spaces to build excitement and awareness ahead of the Games.
