World Rally-Inspired Toyota GR Yaris Arrives in Bahrain

The highly anticipated Toyota GR Yaris, inspired by the brand’s success in the FIA World Rally Championship, has officially arrived in Bahrain through Ebrahim K Kanoo (EKK), the sole distributor of Toyota vehicles in the Kingdom.

Originally launched in Japan in 2020, the GR Yaris has been engineered to bring motorsport technology to everyday roads. The model features an advanced Aero Performance Package designed to enhance aerodynamic efficiency, cooling performance, and overall driving stability, reflecting its rally-bred DNA.

In Bahrain, the GR Yaris is available in a range of bold exterior colours, including Platinum White Pearl Mica, Super White II, Precious Black, Precious Metal, and Emotional Red. Buyers can choose between two sporty interior themes a black and red combination or an all-black finish.

Commenting on the launch, EKK Executive Sales General Manager Ismail Akbar said the arrival of the GR Yaris marks a new chapter for performance driving in the Kingdom. “We are delighted to introduce the Toyota GR Yaris to Bahrain. This model truly embodies Toyota’s philosophy of bringing motorsport technology to everyday roads,” he said. “The GR Yaris delivers an exceptional driving experience that reflects performance passion, precision, and the true spirit of GR.”

Each GR Yaris is meticulously assembled at Toyota’s GR FACTORY production line within the Motomachi Plant in Japan by skilled takumi master craftspeople, ensuring the highest standards of precision, quality, and performance.

Under the bonnet, the GR Yaris is powered by a 1.6-litre inline three-cylinder direct-injection G16E-GTS turbocharged engine, producing an impressive 296 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque. Customers can choose between a newly developed eight-speed automatic transmission or a six-speed intelligent manual gearbox, both offering rapid and precise gear changes.'

The car is equipped with Toyota’s GR-FOUR full-time four-wheel-drive system, which uses an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch and three selectable driving modes. This system continuously adjusts torque distribution between the front and rear wheels to maximise traction and cornering stability across varying road conditions.

Safety is equally prioritised, with Toyota Safety Sense offered as standard. The comprehensive suite includes six SRS airbags, a Pre-Collision System, Emergency Steering Assist, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert with Lane Trace Assist, and an Adaptive High-Beam System. Additional features such as Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert with auto braking, Hill-start Assist Control, Vehicle Stability Control, Anti-lock Braking System with Brake Assist, and a Tyre Pressure Warning System further enhance driver confidence.
