Instagram users in Bahrain report access to mainstream music on Stories

Instagram users across the Kingdom of Bahrain are reporting a long-awaited change on the platform, with mainstream, copyrighted music now appearing in Instagram Stories after years of regional restrictions.

Popular international tracks that were previously unavailable are now visible in the music library, replacing the familiar message that read “music not available in your region.” For many users, this marks a significant shift in how they can create and share content on the platform.

For years, Instagram’s music feature in Bahrain and several other regional markets was limited, often restricting users to a small selection of royalty-free or regional audio. The sudden availability of well-known global songs has sparked widespread conversation among creators, influencers, and everyday users.

As of now, Meta has not issued an official statement confirming whether the expanded music access is a permanent update, part of a phased rollout, or a temporary test. However, the change is already being welcomed as a major improvement for content creation and engagement within the kingdom.

If made permanent, the update could significantly enhance Instagram’s creative tools in Bahrain, bringing the local user experience closer to that of markets where full music libraries have long been available.
