Dubai Festival City Hosts Surprise Fireworks as UAE–Kuwait Celebrations Begin

Dubai residents were treated to a surprise fireworks display at Dubai Festival City on Thursday night, with many spectators unaware of the occasion behind the three-minute spectacle.

The unexpected show was visible from several areas across the city, including Dubai Creek Harbour. Narayana Marar, a Gulf News reader who captured the display, said residents were caught off guard by the fireworks. “It was a surprise. Since the Dubai Shopping Festival is over, we didn’t know what it was for,” he said.

Gulf News can exclusively reveal that the fireworks marked the launch of a series of celebratory events taking place across the UAE to commemorate the country’s longstanding friendship with Kuwait. The Dubai Festival City display was the first in a planned lineup of fireworks and drone shows to be held in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

The week-long celebration began on Thursday, January 29, and will continue through February 4 under the theme “UAE & Kuwait – Brothers Forever.” The initiative highlights the strong historical ties and close bilateral relations between the two nations.

Additional fireworks and visual displays are expected at multiple locations across the UAE in the coming days, offering residents and visitors further opportunities to take part in the celebrations honouring the enduring bond between the UAE and Kuwait.
