NCM Confirms Haile Gobi Volcano Eruption Poses No Threat to Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia’s National Center for Meteorology (NCM) announced that the eruption of Ethiopia’s Haile Gobi volcano will not affect the Kingdom’s atmosphere. According to NCM spokesman Hussein Al-Qahtani, continuous monitoring using advanced national meteorological systems shows no indication that volcanic ash is moving toward Saudi airspace. He noted that the center tracks weather patterns around the clock and updates data in real time to ensure public safety. Al-Qahtani added that NCM will issue alerts or take necessary measures should any significant weather developments emerge.
The Haile Gobi volcano, located in Ethiopia’s Afar region within the Great Rift Valley, erupted Sunday morning after remaining dormant for thousands of years. Satellite imagery captured a dense ash plume rising more than 10 kilometers into the sky, prompting regional agencies to monitor the situation closely. Despite the eruption’s intensity, current atmospheric indicators confirm no anticipated impact on the Kingdom.
