Settlement of Fawri Service Enabled During Public Holidays in Bahrain

The Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) has announced the activation of the Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) System during public holidays, starting from yesterday. This strategic move is designed to support uninterrupted financial operations, specifically enabling a daily morning settlement session dedicated to processing Fawri transactionsa key payment service operated by the Benefit Company (BENEFIT).
Previously, Fawri transactions initiated on public holidays were queued until the next working day, creating delays in fund transfers between banks. With this update, users can now benefit from faster interbank settlements, even when official banking institutions are closed for holidays. The CBB’s decision is part of its broader commitment to enhancing the efficiency, reliability, and accessibility of the Kingdom’s financial infrastructure.
The move not only strengthens Bahrain’s growing digital payment ecosystem but also aligns with its efforts to support 24/7 financial services, reduce cash dependency, and ensure seamless economic activity throughout the year.
