Kantara Chapter 1 Day 2 Box Office Collection: Rishab Shetty’s Prequel Roars Past ₹90 Crore Mark

Rishab Shetty’s Mythological Epic Continues Its Golden Run at the Box Office
Kantara Chapter 1, the much-anticipated prequel to the 2022 blockbuster Kantara, is setting the Indian box office on fire. Directed by and starring Rishab Shetty, the film opened to a thunderous response on Dussehra with a massive ₹60 crore net collection across India. This included ₹18 crore from the original Kannada version and a surprising ₹19 crore from the Hindi-dubbed version, solidifying its pan-India appeal from day one.
On its second day (Friday), despite the usual drop expected on a working day, the film maintained strong momentum. According to early estimates by industry tracker Sacnilk, Kantara Chapter 1 added ₹32.86 crore to its domestic tally by 8 PM. This brings its two-day total in India to ₹94.71 crore, making it the second-highest-grossing Kannada film of the year, overtaking Su From So, which had earned ₹92 crore in September.
Overseas, the film is also making waves, having already raked in approximately $2 million (₹16.6 crore), pushing its worldwide gross on Day 1 alone to ₹90 crore.
Set a thousand years before the events of the original Kantara, this prequel delves deeper into the mythological lore that captivated audiences worldwide in 2022. Alongside Rishab Shetty, the film features a strong ensemble cast including Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram, and Gulshan Devaiah.
With positive word of mouth and strong hold in both single screens and multiplexes, Kantara Chapter 1 looks poised to cross the ₹100 crore mark within its first weekend. If it maintains this trajectory, it could potentially challenge the records set by its predecessor.
