Riyadh’s King Salman International Airport Set for $30 Billion Expansion Under Saudi Vision 2030

Saudi Arabia is taking a major leap in global aviation with the ambitious $30 billion expansion of King Salman International Airport in Riyadh. Designed to be one of the world’s largest and most advanced airports, the project is a central part of the country’s Saudi Vision 2030 plan to diversify its economy and position Riyadh as a major global hub for air travel, logistics, and tourism.

Currently under construction, the airport will span an impressive 57 square kilometers, featuring six parallel runways, modern terminals, and integrated smart systems aimed at creating an ultra-intelligent travel experience. Once completed, the airport is expected to handle between 100 and 120 million passengers annually by 2030, with further expansion plans to reach up to 185 million travelers by 2050.

The mega project will seamlessly blend cutting-edge technology with sustainable infrastructure, incorporating renewable energy solutions and eco-friendly designs. It will include retail spaces, leisure facilities, and hospitality zones to enhance the traveler experience, making it not just a transport hub but a dynamic lifestyle destination.

Named in honor of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the airport will play a pivotal role in Saudi Arabia’s aviation transformation, helping the Kingdom become a key connector between the East and the West. As part of Vision 2030, the expansion will also support Riyadh’s goal of attracting millions of international tourists, strengthening its position as a global gateway for business and leisure.
