Omani Boats Shine in Prestigious Traditional Rowing Race in Bahrain

Omani boats made waves at the prestigious Traditional Rowing Boat Race, claiming top positions in the 3,000-metre heritage sporting event held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs, and Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman, Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
The event, organized by the Inherited Traditional Sports Committee (Mawrooth), celebrated the rich maritime heritage of the Gulf and attracted fierce competition from traditional rowing teams across the region.
Leading the Omani success, the boat Balarab, captained by Humaid Al Bahri, secured a commanding first-place victory, showcasing exceptional teamwork and endurance. Another Omani entry, Ahd Oman, led by Hamood Al Bahri, also impressed by finishing in third place, further highlighting Oman’s strength in traditional water sports.
The race is part of ongoing efforts to preserve and promote Gulf maritime traditions, combining competitive spirit with cultural celebration. Spectators and dignitaries gathered to witness the event, which underscored the deep-rooted significance of rowing in the region’s history.
Oman’s strong performance was met with national pride and praise, as the teams represented both sporting excellence and a commitment to preserving ancestral heritage on the international stage.
