Philippine Embassy in Bahrain Issues Warning Over Scam Calls Impersonating Officials

The Philippine Embassy in the Kingdom of Bahrain has issued a public warning alerting residents to scam calls and messages from individuals falsely claiming to represent the embassy.

According to the advisory, the embassy has received reports of scammers using the official embassy logo on WhatsApp and other messaging platforms to appear credible. These individuals allegedly attempt to extort money from victims, often by claiming to provide Assistance-to-Nationals or other consular-related services.

The embassy emphasized that it does not request or collect payments for consular services or assistance and does not ask for money through personal accounts, messaging apps, or unofficial channels.

Members of the public were advised to verify information only through the embassy’s official contact numbers and verified social media platforms. Any unexpected or suspicious communication claiming to be from embassy personnel should be treated with caution.

Filipinos in Bahrain and elsewhere were urged to remain vigilant, avoid engaging with unsolicited messages or calls, and promptly report suspected scams to the appropriate authorities.

The embassy reiterated its commitment to protecting the Filipino community and reminded the public that awareness remains the strongest defense against fraud.
