Qatar Activates Early Warning System Amid Fog Conditions
Qatar’s Ministry of Interior (MoI) activated its Early Warning System after dense fog reduced visibility across various parts of the country.
Emergency alerts were sent to all mobile phones nationwide, including devices set to silent mode, as part of a system test to measure delivery speed and operational efficiency. The notification reached users instantly, demonstrating the system’s capability to broadcast urgent messages during critical situations.
Authorities clarified that the Early Warning System is designed strictly for exceptional emergencies that may pose risks to public safety, such as severe weather conditions or other major incidents. The ministry emphasized that such alerts should be taken seriously and followed by appropriate precautionary measures.
Fog-related advisories typically urge motorists to reduce speed, use hazard lights when necessary, maintain safe distances, and avoid unnecessary travel during low-visibility conditions.
The activation reflects Qatar’s ongoing efforts to strengthen public safety infrastructure and ensure rapid communication with residents during unforeseen events.
