Qatar Ministry of Interior confirms full readiness and issues public safety directives
The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has confirmed its full field readiness and the continued deployment of security patrols and emergency response teams across Qatar on Sunday, 1 March 2026.
The ministry stated that the measures form part of a coordinated national effort to monitor regional security developments and maintain public safety across the country. Authorities emphasized that the security situation remains stable, with precautionary steps implemented to ensure preparedness.
Public safety guidelines
To facilitate the effective work of emergency units, the MoI issued several key directives for citizens and residents:
Avoid gatherings: Members of the public are urged to stay clear of incident locations and avoid crowding. This is to ensure the smooth movement of ambulances, civil defense units, and security patrols.
Report suspicious objects: Residents are advised not to approach or touch any suspicious objects, unidentified remains, or debris. Such items should be reported immediately by calling the emergency hotline 999.
Stay indoors: While confirming that the situation remains stable, authorities recommend that residents stay indoors unless absolutely necessary and avoid windows and open areas as a precaution.
Verify information: The MoI stressed the importance of relying solely on official sources, including the ministry’s official communication channels, for updates. The public has been warned against circulating unverified news, videos, or rumours, noting potential legal consequences.
Context of the measures
The precautionary steps follow reports of regional tensions, including intercepted missile attacks on 28 February 2026. In response, Qatar has introduced several temporary safety measures effective Sunday, 1 March 2026.
All schools, universities, and educational centers have shifted to temporary distance learning. The Council of Ministers has announced remote work for government entities, excluding essential security and health sectors, while encouraging the private sector to adopt similar arrangements where possible.
Additionally, public celebrations scheduled for early March, including Garangao festivities, have been cancelled as a precautionary measure.
Authorities reiterated that these steps are preventive in nature and aimed at safeguarding the public while ensuring continuity of essential services.
