Mohammed Bin Rashid Library Launches ‘Knowledge Horizons’ to Empower Dubai Students with Digital Knowledge Resources

DUBAI — Mohammed Bin Rashid Library has launched an innovative new initiative, “Knowledge Horizons,” aimed at providing Dubai school students with access to five leading local and international digital databases. This effort seeks to empower young learners to explore world-class knowledge resources, keeping pace with rapid advancements in scientific research and digital transformation.

Dr. Mohammed Salem AlMazrooei, Board Member at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Library Foundation, emphasized the importance of the initiative: “This aligns with the Library’s vision to enrich the knowledge society and foster a lifelong love of learning. Students are the cornerstone of society’s future, and equipping them with knowledge and digital skills is an investment in a generation capable of innovation and global competitiveness.”

The initiative forms part of a broader series of qualitative programs launched by the Library, including ‘A World in Your Language’ and ‘A World Reads’, all designed to promote reading and learning across diverse audiences.

Access to the databases will be available to visitors during their time at the Library, as well as to registered members, providing flexible opportunities to benefit from these rich digital resources either onsite or via online platforms.

Dr. Saeed Mubarak Kharbash, CEO of Policies, Research, and Programmes Sector at the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), highlighted the initiative’s alignment with Dubai’s Education 33 agenda, which promotes lifelong learning and a future-ready education system. “We commend the launch of Knowledge Horizons for instilling a culture of continuous learning, enabling young generations to access knowledge anytime and anywhere, and nurturing their ability to use technology intelligently. This prepares them to face future challenges and build an informed, innovative generation.”

The databases available through the initiative include reputable platforms such as Nahla wa Nahil, Al Manhal, ProQuest, Dar Al Mandumah, and Media Info. These resources support students in their academic projects, inspire creativity, and enhance innovation skills.

In its first phase, the initiative targets both public and private schools. To date, five schools with over 8,600 students have benefitted: Al Ittihad Private School, Dubai National Schools, Al Dhahra Girls School for Basic and Secondary Education, Al Mawakeb School, and GEMS Al Khaleej International School.

The Mohammed Bin Rashid Library provides access to eight specialised research and reference databases covering multiple disciplines. These tools assist students and researchers in organising and analysing information, fostering independent thinking and improving research skills across all age groups.
