Trump praises Qatar at Washington peace board meeting on Gaza reconstruction

U.S. President Donald Trump praised Qatar during the inaugural meeting of the Board of Peace held in Washington, D.C., on Thursday, where international representatives gathered to discuss strategies and funding mechanisms for Gaza’s reconstruction.

The high-level meeting focused on mobilizing global support for rebuilding efforts in Gaza, with discussions centered on infrastructure rehabilitation, humanitarian relief coordination, and long-term development planning. Officials emphasized the importance of sustained financial backing and diplomatic cooperation to ensure stability in the region.

Addressing Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Trump said Qatar had been unfairly portrayed on the international stage despite its extensive diplomatic and humanitarian contributions.

“You need a public relations agency because you do so much good, and they see you as evil. You are not evil,” Trump remarked during the session, drawing attention to Qatar’s role in mediation and relief efforts.

He also praised Qatar’s Amir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, describing him as “incredible” and acknowledging his leadership in advancing regional dialogue and reconstruction initiatives.

Qatar has played a significant role in humanitarian assistance and diplomatic engagement related to Gaza, contributing funding and facilitating negotiations aimed at de-escalation and rebuilding. The Board of Peace meeting marked a renewed push to coordinate international efforts and secure broader financial commitments for the territory’s recovery.
