Bahrain and Saudi Arabia to Launch New Civil Helicopter Route Linking Manama and Dammam

The Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications has signed a Letter of Intent with The Helicopter Company (THC), owned by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, to establish a new civil helicopter route connecting Bahrain and Dammam.

The agreement was formalized during the launch of Bahrain’s National Aviation Strategy 2026–2027, underscoring the Kingdom’s commitment to strengthening regional connectivity and advancing modern air mobility solutions.

This new route will mark THC’s first international operation outside Saudi Arabia, representing a significant milestone in cross-border aviation cooperation within the GCC. The service is expected to provide fast, efficient travel between Bahrain and the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia, catering to business travelers, tourism, and premium transport needs.

By introducing helicopter connectivity between the two neighboring hubs, the initiative aims to reduce travel time, enhance economic ties, and support broader regional mobility strategies. The move aligns with Bahrain’s broader aviation ambitions to diversify transport options, attract investment, and reinforce its role as a key gateway in the Gulf.

As the GCC continues to prioritize infrastructure innovation and seamless cross-border travel, the Bahrain–Dammam helicopter link signals a new chapter in premium, short-haul air mobility across the region.
