Sabrina Carpenter Drops Seventh Studio Album ‘Man’s Best Friend’

Global pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter is back with her seventh studio album, Man’s Best Friend, officially releasing tomorrow, August 29, writes Reid Huliganga.

The highly anticipated project arrives just over a year after Short n’ Sweet, the album that catapulted Carpenter into international stardom. That record’s breakout single, Espresso, earned the singer two Grammy Awards and a wave of critical acclaim that firmly established her as a leading voice in pop music.

According to Carpenter, Man’s Best Friend was born out of creative spontaneity rather than strategic planning. Inspired to keep writing and recording, she teamed up once again with her Short n’ Sweet collaborators, Jack Antonoff and Amy Allen, to craft an album that’s both intimate and experimental.

The album will feature four different cover variants, including one vinyl-exclusive edition that contains a bonus track titled Such A Funny Way. While some might view this release as a follow-up meant to top her previous success, Carpenter and her team say otherwise. “I think it’s a celebration of those who let you down,” Antonoff explained in an interview, hinting at the thematic core of the record.

The album was first teased on June 5 with the release of the lead single Manchild, which quickly became a chart-topper in multiple countries, including Ireland, the UK, and the US. Its strong debut only intensified the buzz surrounding the full project.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, the 26-year-old artist revealed that the timing of the release reflects her current mindset as a creator. “I was at that point in my career where, if I’m inspired to write and make something new, I’d rather take that chance than wait three years,” she said. Despite the pressure that often follows a Grammy-winning project, Carpenter remains unfazed: “I cannot care for it, because I’m just so excited.”

Sabrina Carpenter’s journey began as a child actor, gaining early recognition on Disney Channel’s Girl Meets World (2012) and for her debut album Eyes Wide Open (2015). A decade later, she stands as one of the genre’s most compelling young voices and Man’s Best Friend is shaping up to be her most personal work yet.
