Sixth Bahrain International Film Festival Opens Submissions to Global Filmmakers
The Kingdom of Bahrain is once again inviting filmmakers from around the world to take part in one of the region’s most dynamic cultural platforms, as submissions officially open for the 6th Bahrain International Film Festival (BIFF). Running from 1 February to 30 June 2026, the festival continues its mission of championing cinematic creativity and storytelling in the Gulf and beyond.
Now in its sixth edition, BIFF has firmly established itself as a premier showcase for diverse voices in cinema. The festival welcomes submissions across feature films, short films, documentaries, and animated works, encouraging both established filmmakers and emerging talent to present stories that push boundaries and spark dialogue.
A defining feature of BIFF is its emphasis on films that explore social, cultural, and environmental themes. By spotlighting narratives that resonate both locally and globally, the festival positions itself as a bridge between regional perspectives and international audiences, celebrating cinema as a powerful tool for reflection and change.
Beyond screenings, the Bahrain International Film Festival offers a rich and immersive program that includes panel discussions, masterclasses, and networking sessions. These events provide filmmakers with valuable opportunities to engage directly with industry professionals, critics, and fellow creatives, fostering collaboration and professional growth.
Past editions of BIFF have showcased an impressive range of talent, from promising Bahraini filmmakers to internationally recognized directors. Many selected films have gone on to achieve regional and global recognition, reinforcing the festival’s reputation as a launchpad for emerging voices in contemporary cinema.
Submissions for the 6th edition remain open until 30 June 2026, offering filmmakers ample time to prepare and submit their work. Selected films will be presented within a vibrant festival program designed to encourage learning, cultural exchange, and creative dialogue.
