Turkey and Oman Announce Mutual Visa Exemption to Strengthen Travel and Trade Ties

In a significant step toward strengthening bilateral relations, Turkey and Oman have announced a mutual visa exemption for their citizens, marking a new chapter in cooperation between the two nations. The agreement, reported by the Oman News Agency, is expected to enhance collaboration across key sectors including trade, investment, and tourism.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan described the visa exemption as a milestone that will deepen the already strong partnership between Ankara and Muscat.

“Turkey has decided to exempt citizens of the Sultanate of Oman from entry visas to Turkey,” President Erdogan said. “We thank and appreciate the Sultanate’s decision to exempt Turkish citizens from entry visas to the Sultanate, which will contribute to enhancing cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, and tourism.”

The announcement follows high-level discussions between Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and President Erdogan at Al Alam Palace in Muscat. During the meeting, both leaders reaffirmed their shared vision to facilitate easier travel, promote mutual investment, and expand economic and cultural ties between their countries.

The visa waiver is anticipated to boost tourism flows and business exchanges, allowing citizens of both nations to travel freely for short-term visits without prior visa requirements. It also reflects the growing strategic cooperation between Turkey and Oman in the Middle East, supporting broader regional connectivity and partnership goals.
