Aishwarya Rai Stuns Paris Ramp in Diamond‑Studded Sherwani by Manish Malhotra

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan made a dazzling return to the runway at Paris Fashion Week, walking for L’Oréal Paris as part of their show titled “Liberté, Égalité, Sororité” (Liberty, Equality, Sisterhood). Representing the global beauty brand she has long been the face of, Aishwarya wore a bold and breathtaking ensemble designed by celebrated Indian couturier Manish Malhotra. The custom creation was a reimagined sherwani traditionally a men’s garment interpreted through an androgynous, high-fashion lens. The outfit, crafted in a deep indigo hue, was entirely studded with thousands of diamonds, creating a look that felt both rooted in heritage and undeniably futuristic.
Manish Malhotra described the sherwani as being inspired by classic Indian menswear while reworking it to express modern sensuality and gender fluidity. The garment featured a raised bandhgala collar with a split neckline, padded shoulders, front and side slits, and was finished with sparkling diamond-studded buttons. What truly made the look unforgettable, however, were the details: the 10-inch diamond-embroidered cuffs, layered diamond scallops cascading down the back like an ornate necklace, and diamond-encrusted animal brooches. According to Malhotra, these elements echoed the grandeur of a nau lakha haar, a traditional necklace once worn by royalty.
Aishwarya paired the sherwani jacket with matching flared trousers, high heels, delicate diamond ear studs, and oversized diamond rings. Her walk exuded confidence, elegance, and an aura of timeless glamor. As cameras flashed and the crowd roared in admiration, Aishwarya once again proved why she remains an icon not only of Indian cinema but also of international fashion.
