Bahrain Metro Phase One works begin, bringing long-awaited project closer to reality

Bahrain’s long-anticipated metro project is moving closer to becoming a reality, with Phase One route works now officially underway across key areas of the kingdom.

The first phase of the Bahrain Metro will feature two major lines spanning approximately 29 kilometers and covering 20 stations. The network is designed to significantly enhance connectivity across urban centers while easing traffic congestion on some of the country’s busiest roads.

One of the lines will connect Bahrain International Airport to the bustling Seef district, a major commercial and residential hub. The second line will link Juffair, known for its vibrant lifestyle and tourism offerings, to Isa Town, a key residential and educational area.

The metro system is expected to transform public transportation in Bahrain by offering a faster, more efficient alternative to road travel. It also aligns with the Kingdom’s broader goals of sustainable urban development and reducing carbon emissions.

Authorities say the project will not only improve daily commuting for residents but also support economic growth by enhancing accessibility to business districts, retail centers, and key infrastructure.

Once completed, the Bahrain Metro is set to become a cornerstone of the country’s modern transport network, reflecting its commitment to future-ready infrastructure and improved quality of life.
