Bahrain Ministry of Works: No Major Road Closure Announced for September 20

No Major Road Closure Announced in Bahrain for September 20, Confirms Ministry of Works

As of September 18, 2025, Bahrain’s Ministry of Works has not issued any public announcement regarding a major road closure starting September 20, despite rumors circulating on social media. However, recent updates from local news outlet confirm that two new traffic diversions have been announced, though the Ministry has not yet released detailed information about their exact locations or duration.

The Ministry has been actively updating the public on ongoing infrastructure projects. On September 17, it announced the completion of its nationwide road maintenance plan, which covered key routes including Dry Dock Avenue and Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Highway. A significant closure remains in effect on Shaikh Duaij Bin Hamad Avenue in Muharraq, between Shaikh Isa Avenue and Shaikh Khalifa Bin Salman Avenue, which began around September 12 and is expected to last one month.

In late August, lane closures were introduced along Shaikh Isa bin Salman Highway due to a major flyover construction project, affecting traffic from the King Fahd Causeway toward Manama and rerouting vehicles from Janabiya to Mazarea Highway. Additionally, as part of traffic decongestion efforts, the Ministry introduced a truck ban on King Hamad Street effective September 1, prohibiting heavy vehicles over 3 tons from using the road during peak hours (6:30–8:00 a.m. and 2:00–3:00 p.m.).

While there is currently no confirmation of a new closure for September 20, the Ministry advises residents to follow official channels for real-time updates as Bahrain continues its nationwide infrastructure improvements.
