Bahrain issues strong wind and rough sea alert for February 25–26
The Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications (MTT) in Bahrain has announced a significant weather shift expected to impact the Kingdom on Wednesday, February 25, and Thursday, February 26, 2026. Authorities have issued a weather alert warning of strong to very strong winds, cooler temperatures, and rough sea conditions over the two-day period.
Northwesterly winds are forecast to intensify across the country. On Wednesday, winds will initially be mainly southerly at speeds of 17–22 knots before shifting to northwesterly at dawn. Gusts are expected to reach between 25 and 30 knots at times, creating challenging conditions in exposed areas.
Temperatures are also set to drop noticeably. Daytime highs are expected to hover around 26°C, while nighttime lows could fall to between 15°C and 16°C, bringing cooler conditions across the Kingdom.
The strong winds are likely to raise sand and dust in several areas, potentially reducing horizontal visibility and affecting road conditions. Motorists have been urged to exercise caution, particularly on open highways and coastal routes.
Mariners have also been warned of rough sea conditions, with offshore wave heights forecast to range between 4 and 7 feet. Sea-goers and fishermen are advised to avoid heading out during this period due to high waves and strong gusts.
Residents are encouraged to secure loose outdoor items and follow official safety advisories. According to the forecast, conditions are expected to gradually stabilize by Friday, February 27, with lighter winds and continued cool overnight temperatures.
