British Chamber of Commerce Qatar hosts Ramadan Iftar celebrating UK–Qatar ties

The British Chamber of Commerce Qatar (BCCQ) hosted its annual Ramadan Iftar on Tuesday, 24 February 2026, bringing together prominent figures from Qatar’s business community for an evening of reflection, connection and celebration.

The event was held at Gymkhana at Katara Hills, a refined Indian restaurant known for its elegant setting and elevated take on traditional flavours. The intimate venue provided a warm and sophisticated backdrop for the gathering during the holy month of Ramadan.

The evening was attended by the full BCCQ Board, led by Chairman Emad Turkman MBE, and was honoured by the presence of the British Ambassador to Qatar, Neerav Patel. The gathering underscored the strength and depth of the UK–Qatar partnership, both economically and diplomatically.

In his remarks, Ambassador Patel highlighted the continued growth in bilateral relations, noting that trade between the United Kingdom and Qatar reached £6.1 billion in the year ending June 2025. The milestone reflects the expanding collaboration across sectors including energy, education, finance and technology.

Guests were treated to a curated five-course seated menu that blended traditional Indian flavours with contemporary presentation. The carefully crafted dishes and attentive service created an atmosphere of refinement and hospitality, in keeping with the spirit of Ramadan.

The Iftar also marked an important institutional milestone for the Chamber, serving as a moment to reflect on its recent transition from the Qatar British Business Forum (QBBF) to a fully accredited British Chamber of Commerce. The transformation strengthens its mandate and formal standing within the global British Chambers network.

Discussions throughout the evening centred on the Chamber’s role in supporting trade and investment, as well as fostering professional collaboration within Qatar’s dynamic business landscape for 2026 and beyond. As the Chamber continues to evolve, the Ramadan Iftar reaffirmed its commitment to deepening UK–Qatar ties and strengthening the business community it represents.
