Dubai rolls out solar-powered Smart Palms across public spaces
Dubai has introduced innovative solar-powered “Smart Palms” across key public locations, including beaches, parks, and major tourist areas, as part of its continued push toward sustainable urban development. The modern structures harness solar energy during the day and operate around the clock, offering a range of convenient services for residents and visitors while reducing reliance on conventional power sources.
Designed to blend functionality with sustainability, the Smart Palms provide free high-speed WiFi, USB charging ports for mobile devices, LED lighting during nighttime hours, and, in select locations, digital information displays. Many units also feature shaded seating areas, enhancing comfort in outdoor environments.
The initiative aligns with the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, which aims to position Dubai as a global hub for clean energy and green economy innovation. By integrating renewable technology into everyday public infrastructure, the city continues to reinforce its reputation as a leader in smart urban transformation.
Officials say the Smart Palms project reflects Dubai’s broader commitment to sustainability, digital connectivity, and improving quality of life through forward-thinking design and renewable energy solutions.
