Bahrain Issues Warning Over Surge in Text Message Scams

Manama, October 21, 2025 –

The National Cybersecurity Center (NCSC) in Bahrain has issued an urgent warning regarding a sharp rise in cyber fraud attempts targeting both citizens and residents via text messages impersonating official entities.

According to the center, scammers are sending deceptive messages that trick recipients into paying fake fees or disclosing sensitive personal and banking information. These fraudulent texts often contain malicious links that closely mimic the appearance of legitimate government or service websites.

The NCSC highlighted that the primary goal of these scams is to steal data or gain unauthorized access to bank accounts, posing serious risks to financial security and digital privacy.

Public Advisory

Authorities are urging the public to exercise caution and avoid clicking on any suspicious links or engaging with unsolicited messages, even if they appear to come from official sources.

The center emphasized that no government agency in Bahrain will request personal or banking information via text message.

Citizens are advised to report suspicious activity and stay informed through official cybersecurity updates. The NCSC continues to monitor and respond to cyber threats to safeguard national digital infrastructure.
