The release date for Bhooth Bangla, starring Akshay Kumar and directed by Priyadarshan, has been officially confirmed for May 15, 2026. The film marks the much-anticipated reunion of the iconic actor-director duo after 14 years, following their last collaboration on Khatta Meetha in 2010.
Originally scheduled to hit theaters on April 2, 2026, the makers decided to shift the release to May in order to avoid a box-office clash with Dhurandhar 2. The new date places Bhooth Bangla in a favorable summer release window, traditionally strong for comedy-driven entertainers.
Belonging to the horror-comedy genre, Bhooth Bangla is said to draw inspiration from Indian mythology, the Vedas, and the Mahabharata. At the heart of the story is the theme of black magic, blending supernatural elements with humor, an approach Priyadarshan is well known for, particularly in collaboration with Akshay Kumar.
The film boasts a strong ensemble cast that includes Tabu, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Wamiqa Gabbi, Jisshu Sengupta, Mithila Palkar, and Manoj Joshi, adding depth and comic timing to the narrative. The reunion of Akshay Kumar with Paresh Rawal and Rajpal Yadav has already generated excitement among fans of their earlier cult comedy films.
Bhooth Bangla is produced by Balaji Motion Pictures, led by Ektaa R. Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor, in association with Cape of Good Films, Akshay Kumar’s production banner. Filming has been carried out extensively across Jaipur and other locations in Rajasthan, as well as Hyderabad, with large-scale sets and atmospheric backdrops designed to enhance the film’s supernatural tone.
The makers announced the release date with a playful teaser line that reads:
“Bangle se ek khabar aayi hai! The doors open on 15th May 2026.”
With its blend of mythology, horror, and comedy, along with the return of one of Bollywood’s most successful creative pairings, Bhooth Bangla is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated Hindi releases of 2026.
