Commerce Ministry Intensifies Market Inspections in Makkah and Madinah Ahead of Ramadan
The Ministry of Commerce announced that its inspection teams conducted 17,500 field visits across the Makkah and Madinah regions between Rajab 1 and Shaaban 5, 1447 AH, as part of intensified oversight efforts ahead of the holy month of Ramadan.
The inspection tours covered central markets, hypermarkets, and retail outlets in the central Haram areas, in addition to gold and jewellery shops, fuel stations located on the main roads leading to Makkah and Madinah, and designated Miqat locations where pilgrims enter the state of Ihram.
These proactive inspection campaigns coincide with the approaching month of Ramadan, which represents the peak of the Umrah season due to the significant increase in the number of pilgrims and visitors arriving in the two holy cities.
The ministry affirmed the availability of sufficient quantities of goods, food products, and essential supplies to meet the rising demand expected during the holy month. It emphasized that markets remain well stocked and capable of supporting consumer needs throughout the Ramadan period.
According to the ministry, the inspection efforts have contributed to ensuring an ample supply of goods, verifying that food products comply with approved standard specifications, and confirming the adherence of commercial establishments and sales outlets to consumer protection regulations, in line with the Kingdom’s commitment to maintaining market stability and safeguarding consumer rights.
