Thousands Cycle Down Sheikh Zayed Road for Dubai Ride 2025
Dubai, UAE: Smiles, selfies, and the sound of spinning gears filled the cool morning air as thousands of cyclists transformed Sheikh Zayed Road into a vibrant sea of colour for the sixth edition of Dubai Ride, presented by DP World, on Sunday morning. The much-anticipated event marked the official kickoff of the Dubai Fitness Challenge 2025, bringing together riders of all ages and fitness levels for a celebration of health, community, and movement
Cyclists set off at dawn on two scenic routes, each offering a unique view of the city’s skyline. Families and casual riders enjoyed the relaxed 4km flat route through Downtown Dubai, gliding past the glittering towers and lively streets, while more experienced participants took on the 12km challenge route, weaving through the city’s most iconic landmarks including the Museum of the Future, Dubai Water Canal, and the towering Burj Khalifa.
Adding an extra dose of adrenaline, the Dubai Ride Speed Laps (held from 5 am to 6 am) gave professional cyclists the rare thrill of racing at speeds above 30km/h on the open Sheikh Zayed Road a unique opportunity to ride fast and free through the heart of the city before sunrise.
Yaqoub Al Zarouni, Senior Manager of the Dubai Fitness Challenge at the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), hailed the event as one of the highlights of the month-long fitness initiative, saying it perfectly embodies Dubai’s vision of becoming one of the world’s most active cities.
To ensure participants could reach the event smoothly, the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) extended metro operations from 3 am to midnight, facilitating easy transport for early riders and spectators alike.
With the energy of thousands powering through the city’s most famous boulevard, Dubai Ride 2025 once again proved that fitness and community spirit remain at the core of Dubai’s dynamic lifestyle.
