James Cameron Reveals ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ Plot Details & Why AI Will Never Write His Scripts

Cameron Confirms Major Avatar 3 Details and Defends the Human Touch in Storytelling

In a recent exclusive interview with IGN, legendary filmmaker James Cameron opened up about what fans can expect from the next installment in his groundbreaking sci-fi franchise Avatar: Fire and Ash. The director shared juicy new insights into the origins of Kiri, the continuation of the Sully family saga, and addressed long-standing questions about the future of Avatar 4 and 5.

According to Cameron, Avatar: Fire and Ash picks up directly after the events of The Way of Water, diving deeper into the internal conflicts of Pandora and expanding the mythology surrounding Kiri, the mysterious child connected to Grace Augustine (played by Sigourney Weaver). Cameron teased that Kiri’s origin is “the spiritual key to the saga,” hinting at more celestial or Eywa-related revelations.

But it wasn’t just plot twists that Cameron discussed. He also took a strong stance against the growing trend of AI in storytelling. When asked if AI tools like ChatGPT or generative scriptwriting software would ever touch his screenplays, Cameron gave a firm "absolutely not."

“AI doesn’t have childhood trauma, heartbreak, or love it doesn’t dream. That’s what stories are made of,” Cameron stated.

While fans have long speculated about the fate of Avatar 4 and 5, Cameron remained cautiously optimistic, noting that while the scripts are written and planned, their production hinges on the continued success of Fire and Ash. If the audience remains invested, the Na’vi saga will go on.
