Microsoft to Invest Over $15 Billion in UAE, Secures US Export Licenses for Nvidia Chips

Microsoft is set to invest more than $15 billion in the United Arab Emirates, marking one of the company’s largest commitments in the region to date. The investment aims to accelerate the UAE’s digital transformation, expand cloud computing infrastructure, and advance artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities across key sectors.

According to sources familiar with the matter, Microsoft has also secured U.S. export licenses allowing it to supply Nvidia AI chips to the UAE, a significant move amid Washington’s tighter restrictions on advanced semiconductor exports. The approval enables Microsoft to deploy high-performance computing resources in the country without violating U.S. export control regulations.

The massive investment is expected to boost the UAE’s ambition to become a leading global AI and technology hub, aligning with national initiatives such as the UAE’s “AI 2031 Strategy.” It will also strengthen partnerships between Microsoft and Emirati entities focused on innovation, data security, and sustainable digital infrastructure.

The company plans to expand data centers, enhance AI-driven cloud services, and provide advanced tools to support government, education, and business sectors across the Emirates.

This development follows growing collaboration between U.S. tech giants and Gulf nations, which are increasingly investing in AI, cloud computing, and next-generation chip technology to diversify their economies beyond oil.
