Minister Wael Al Mubarak reviews Bahraini Farmers Market at Budaiya Botanical Garden
Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Minister Wael Al Mubarak conducted a field visit to the Bahraini Farmers Market at the Budaiya Botanical Garden, underscoring the government’s continued support for local agriculture and food security initiatives.
The minister was accompanied by Works Minister Ibrahim Al Hawaj, Tourism Minister Fatima Al Sairafi, National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD) Secretary General Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa, representatives from stc Bahrain and Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC), Members of Parliament, Northern Governor Hassan Al Madani, Northern Municipal Council Chairman Dr. Saiyed Shubbar Al Wedai, along with several officials.
During the visit, Al Mubarak emphasized that the Farmers Market serves as a distinguished national platform, reflecting Bahrain’s commitment to strengthening the role of Bahraini farmers within the national food security system. He noted that the initiative aligns with the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
The minister highlighted that supporting the Farmers Market contributes directly to the sustainability of the agricultural sector, reinforcing its role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and the objectives outlined in the Government Programme. He stressed that empowering local farmers not only enhances food security but also promotes economic resilience and sustainable development.
Al Mubarak also praised the close follow-up and continuous support provided by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty the King, President of the Supreme Council for Women, and President of the NIAD Advisory Council. He noted that her support has played a key role in strengthening the Farmers Market’s position as a vital platform for promoting Bahraini produce and supporting local farmers.
The Bahraini Farmers Market continues to serve as an important bridge between local producers and consumers, reinforcing national efforts to encourage locally grown products, sustainable farming practices, and long-term food security.
