Nagabandham teaser unveils myth, history and spiritual warfare on Maha Shivaratri
The teaser of Nagabandham was officially launched on February 15, 2026, marking the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivaratri. Superstar Mahesh Babu unveiled the dialogue-free glimpse titled “World of Nagabandham,” offering audiences a first look at what promises to be a grand mythological action spectacle set in the 1750s. Blending documented historical events with temple legends and spiritual warfare, the teaser positions the film as a large-scale pan-Indian epic slated for theatrical release in summer 2026.
A story rooted in history and myth
Set in mid-18th century India, the narrative reframes the invasions of Afghan ruler Ahmad Shah Abdali, portrayed in the film by Rishabh Sawhney, as a quest to seize a legendary ancient treasure. Central to the storyline is the sacred Anantha Padmanabha Swamy Temple and its mysterious “secret treasure.” The title Nagabandham refers to the mystical serpent seal believed to guard sacred vaults, said to be unlockable only through specific spiritual chants.
The teaser showcases a sweeping journey from the Himalayas to southern India’s revered temple landscapes, framing the protagonist as a Rudhra-like figure, a manifestation of Lord Shiva destined to protect divine assets from foreign invaders.
Visual scale and action
The visually rich teaser features expansive landscapes, elaborate temple settings, and high-end VFX. The action choreography is handled by internationally acclaimed stunt expert Kecha Khamphakdee, promising intense battle sequences and stylized combat. Actor Virat Karrna leads the film, appearing in multiple intense avatars, including a transformation inspired by Lord Shiva.
Cast and crew
The film is written and directed by Abhishek Nama. The lead cast includes Virat Karrna, Nabha Natesh as Parvathi, and Iswarya Menon. The supporting ensemble features Jagapathi Babu, Rishabh Sawhney as Abdali, and Garuda Ram as Bhairagi. Music is composed by Junaid Kumar and Abhe, while production is handled by Kishore Annapureddy and Nishitha Nagireddy under Abhishek Pictures and NIK Studios.
Nagabandham will release in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam, aiming to captivate audiences across India with its blend of history, mythology, and spiritual symbolism.
