Qatar and Slovenia Strengthen Economic Ties with New MoU and Business Forum
The Qatar-Slovenia Business Meeting, organized yesterday by the Qatar Chamber, brought together key leaders and business representatives from both nations to explore new avenues for trade and investment cooperation.
The event was attended by H.E. Natalia Al Mansour, Non-Resident Ambassador of Slovenia to Qatar; H.E. Jassim Yaqoub Al Hammadi, Non-Resident Ambassador of Qatar to Slovenia; and a Slovenian delegation comprising 25 leading companies. Several Qatari businessmen and Qatar Chamber board members also participated.
A key highlight of the meeting was the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Qatar Chamber and the Slovenia Chamber of Commerce and Industry, marking a new milestone in bilateral cooperation.
Delivering welcoming remarks, H.E. Dr. Natasa Pirc Musar, President of Slovenia, praised Qatar’s growing economic influence and extended an invitation to Qatari investors to explore Slovenia’s strong, diversified economy.
“There is significant potential for deepening cooperation between our two countries. We both recognize the untapped potential for further economic collaboration,” said President Musar. She highlighted Slovenia’s strengths in science, technology, pharmaceuticals, infrastructure, and green technology, urging Qatari businesses to explore partnerships in these sectors.
The Slovenian President acknowledged Qatar’s contribution to her country’s development, citing its financial support for projects such as the Islamic Cultural Center in Ljubljana. She also announced that the Qatar Fund for Development and ITF Enhancing Human Security (Slovenian International Organization) will sign a grant agreement to support the Palestine Hospital in Bethlehem.
President Musar also expressed Slovenia’s interest in establishing a direct air route with Qatar Airways, which she said would boost tourism and enhance business connectivity between the two countries.
Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Twar Al Kuwari, First Vice-Chairman of Qatar Chamber, welcomed the Slovenian delegation and noted that the bilateral trade volume, amounting to around QR138 million last year, remains below potential.
He stressed that there are ample opportunities for cooperation in renewable energy, tourism, technology, food security, pharmaceuticals, and logistics, adding that the newly signed MoU would serve as a catalyst for future partnerships and business delegations.
Marjana Majeric, Executive Director of the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, described the meeting as an important platform for fostering joint ventures and experience exchange. She emphasized that the MoU marks a qualitative step forward in strengthening private sector collaboration between Qatar and Slovenia.
Majeric invited Qatari investors to visit Slovenia to learn about its investment opportunities, especially in sustainability and innovation-driven initiatives.
