Saudi Arabia Sets Record with 11.7 Million Umrah Pilgrims in Rabi Al Thani
Record-Breaking Month for Umrah Pilgrims in Saudi Arabia-
Saudi Arabia has announced a historic milestone, with over 11.7 million worshippers performing Umrah during the Hijri month of Rabi Al Thani, marking one of the highest monthly figures ever recorded. According to official data released by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, in collaboration with the General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, this surge highlights the growing efficiency and global appeal of the Kingdom’s pilgrimage infrastructure.
Global Participation and Digital Transformation-
Out of the total, more than 1.5 million pilgrims arrived from outside the Kingdom, reflecting the success of Saudi Arabia’s streamlined visa processes and its ongoing investment in digital transformation. The Ministry attributed the rise to enhanced digital systems and integrated logistical services that have simplified every stage of the pilgrimage from planning and booking to transportation and accommodation.
Platforms like Nusuk Umrah, recently launched by Saudi authorities, now allow pilgrims to book Umrah packages, accommodations, and services directly cutting out middlemen and improving transparency and accessibility for worshippers worldwide.
Part of Vision 2030’s Broader Goals-
This milestone aligns with Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to expand the capacity and accessibility of the Two Holy Mosques in Makkah and Madinah while offering a more spiritually fulfilling and technologically enhanced experience. Officials emphasize that this growth is not just about numbers, but also about improving service quality, safety, and comfort for all visitors.
The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah reaffirmed its commitment to continuously enhance cooperation with the General Authority to develop new digital and operational systems that enrich the journey for worshippers. These include better crowd management tools, real-time monitoring of pilgrim movement, and AI-driven planning systems to optimize visitor flow within the Grand Mosque and its surrounding areas.
Commitment to Excellence and Innovation-
Saudi Arabia’s approach to managing religious tourism is increasingly seen as a model for balancing spiritual tradition with modern efficiency. Officials say these initiatives ensure that pilgrims can focus on their worship while enjoying a safe, seamless, and spiritually enriching experience.
As the Kingdom continues to innovate within its Hajj and Umrah ecosystem, it remains steadfast in its mission to welcome more Muslims from around the world a step closer to its Vision 2030 goal of hosting 30 million Umrah pilgrims annually.
