Benefit reports record BD37.5bn in digital payments through EFTS in 2025

Benefit has announced a record-breaking performance for 2025, with total online payments processed through the Electronic Funds Transfer System (EFTS) reaching BD37.5 billion.

The figure marks a 12.6 percent increase compared to 2024, when transactions totalled BD33.3 billion. The growth was driven by 494 million transactions processed across various channels, including banking platforms and the widely used BenefitPay app.

BenefitPay continued to play a central role in Bahrain’s digital payments ecosystem, facilitating 466 million transactions valued at BD10.2 billion. This represents a 10.6 per cent year-on-year increase in transaction volume and a 9.5 per cent rise in value, reinforcing its position as a key enabler of cashless payments nationwide.

The Fawri+ instant transfer service recorded the highest transaction volume, with 467.9 million transactions totalling BD9.7 billion. The service saw a 13.6 per cent increase in value, supported by the decision to raise the daily transfer limit from BD1,000 to BD3,000 and extend settlement services to weekends and public holidays.

Meanwhile, total Fawri transactions reached 14.3 million, generating approximately BD26.4 billion in value, an 11.8 percent increase compared to the previous year.

Although transaction volumes for Fawateer dipped slightly to 11.8 million, the total value of payments through the service rose sharply by 20.4 per cent to BD1.4 billion, indicating higher-value transactions across the platform.

The strong performance underscores Bahrain’s accelerating shift toward digital financial services and highlights Benefit’s growing role in advancing the kingdom’s fintech infrastructure.
