UAE Launches Enhanced ‘Ajr wa Aafya’ Bundle to Cut Medical and Sick Leave Processing Times by 55%

In a major step toward transforming public service delivery, the United Arab Emirates has launched an upgraded version of the “Ajr wa Aafya” bundle, a digital initiative designed to accelerate medical fitness and sick leave processes for federal employees and job applicants. The new system, introduced by the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) in partnership with the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) and Emirates Health Services (EHS), will reduce processing times by up to 55 percent, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s ongoing efforts to eliminate bureaucracy and enhance operational efficiency.

The enhanced Ajr wa Aafya initiative simplifies healthcare-related procedures by connecting multiple government systems, allowing for faster verification, approval, and issuance of medical fitness and sick leave certificates. Through this integration, thousands of employees will experience smoother, more efficient access to essential services.

“The launch of the ‘Ajr wa Aafya’ bundle reflects the Ministry's commitment to implementing the directives of the wise leadership, which seek to build an integrated federal work system,” said Abdullah Ahli, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for the Support Services Sector and Head of MoHAP’s Zero Government Bureaucracy Team.

He added that the initiative supports the UAE’s Zero Government Bureaucracy Program, a national drive to simplify procedures, eliminate redundant steps, and improve user satisfaction through advanced digital systems.

By accelerating medical and leave-related services, the UAE continues to strengthen its reputation as a leader in digital governance committed to innovation, employee well-being, and world-class efficiency across government operations.
