UAE Introduces 24/7 Consular Support for Golden Visa Holders Abroad

The UAE has announced round-the-clock consular support services for Golden Visa holders, offering assistance during emergencies and crises abroad, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) confirmed on Tuesday, October 14. This move is part of the country’s ongoing commitment to protect and support its long-term residents, even when they are outside the UAE.

A dedicated 24/7 hotline has been set up for Golden Visa holders to ensure their inclusion in emergency response and evacuation plans during disasters, in collaboration with relevant international and local authorities. The service also covers critical situations such as the repatriation or burial of Golden Visa holders who pass away overseas, providing their families with streamlined consular processes and support during a difficult time.

Additionally, the service facilitates the issuance of an electronic Return Document for eligible Golden Visa holders who lose or damage their passports while abroad, helping them return to the UAE without delay. This document can be requested via MoFA’s official website, further simplifying the process.

The dedicated MoFA Call Centre number for Golden Visa holders is +971 2 493 1133, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Originally launched in 2019, the Golden Visa allows foreign nationals to live, work, and study in the UAE without the need for a local sponsor. The visa is available to a range of high-potential individuals, including investors, entrepreneurs, scientists, frontline workers, real estate investors, outstanding students, and specialists in key fields. More recently, new categories have been introduced, including content creators, professional gamers, outstanding teachers, and superyacht owners, reflecting the UAE’s broad approach to attracting global talent.

Eligible individuals can apply through the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security (ICP) or the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai. Applications may be submitted via designated service centres or through the relevant government websites.

With this new consular initiative, the UAE continues to position itself as a global leader in resident care and mobility support, reinforcing the value of the Golden Visa as more than just a residence permit but a long-term commitment to those who choose to call the UAE home.
