Miss Universe Philippines Ahtisa Manalo captivated audiences during the Miss Universe 2025 national costume show on November 19 in Bangkok, unveiling a striking ensemble titled “Festejada.” Designed by renowned Filipino couturier Mark Tumang, the costume draws inspiration from the classic traje de mestiza, paying homage to the Philippines’ rich tradition of fiestas and the women who shaped the national dress, particularly María Clara of José Rizal’s Noli Me Tángere. Manalo graced the stage in exquisite hand-embroidered piña fabric, featuring a traditional camisa, a flowing saya, and a modest pañuelo draped across her shoulders. Tumang’s creation celebrates Filipino cultural vibrance through intricate elements inspired by iconic festivals such as Pampanga’s Giant Lantern Festival, Lucban’s Pahiyas, and Baguio’s Panagbenga. The skirt alone boasts more than 65,000 individually crafted petals, forming a vivid tapestry symbolizing the joy, artistry, and resilience embedded in Filipino celebrations. As the Miss Universe Philippines organization expressed, “Festejada is a reminder that our culture is not just worn it is lived, shared, and carried with pride.”
