Disney Meets Bollywood as Shah Rukh Khan Lights Up the Skies on Disney Cruise Line
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan will lend his iconic voice to a major new fireworks spectacular aboard Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Adventure, set to launch from Singapore on 10 March 2026, marking a high-profile fusion of Disney storytelling and global star power.
The cruise line announced that Khan will narrate The Lion King: Celebration in the Sky, a large-scale nighttime fireworks show created for the inaugural sailing of the Disney Adventure. The production will combine pyrotechnics, music and narration to bring one of Disney’s most celebrated stories to life against the night sky.
Khan, who previously voiced the character of Mufasa in the Hindi versions of The Lion King (2019) and Mufasa (2024), returns to the franchise in a new format, adding his signature voice to an immersive at-sea experience designed for international audiences.
The show will feature a selection of well-known songs from The Lion King, including Circle of Life, Hakuna Matata, He Lives in You and Can You Feel the Love Tonight?. The music has been recorded by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and performed in collaboration with South Africa’s Ndlovu Youth Choir, creating a globally inspired orchestral soundtrack.
Commenting on the announcement, Khan said he looks forward to audiences joining in the celebration of the story’s themes and music, describing the production as a unique way to experience the magic of The Lion King in a new setting.
Sarah Fox, Vice President and Regional General Manager of Disney Cruise Line Southeast Asia, said Khan’s involvement reinforces the company’s commitment to delivering world-class entertainment that resonates with diverse audiences. She noted that his storytelling ability and international appeal make him an ideal choice to narrate the new fireworks spectacular.
The Disney Adventure is Disney Cruise Line’s first ship to be home-ported in Asia and represents a significant expansion of the brand’s presence in the region. The addition of a major entertainment experience narrated by one of Bollywood’s most recognisable stars underscores Disney’s strategy of blending its classic stories with global cultural influences.
