UAE Updates Entry Permit Rules: Passport Cover Page Now Mandatory

UAE Entry Permit Applications Now Require Passport Cover Page
The United Arab Emirates has announced a new regulation for all entry permit applications, requiring the inclusion of the passport’s cover page alongside the standard biodata page. This update applies to various visa types, including tourist visas, visit visas, family sponsorship, and employment-related entry permits. The change, implemented by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security (ICP), is aimed at improving verification accuracy and streamlining the documentation process.
Previously, only the biodata page of the passport was needed for entry permit submissions. However, the addition of the cover page will help authorities verify the nationality, document type, and authenticity more efficiently. This move is part of broader efforts to enhance transparency and security in immigration procedures, especially as the UAE continues to witness a high influx of tourists, professionals, and expatriates.
Applicants whether individuals, employers, or PROs submitting on behalf of companies must ensure that both the passport biodata page and the cover page are scanned clearly and submitted in the required format. The updated requirement is effective across all emirates and applies to applications submitted both online through the ICP Smart Services Portal and in person at authorized typing centers and Amer Centers (in Dubai).
It is advisable for applicants to double-check their documents before submission to avoid delays or rejections. The passport cover page typically contains essential identifiers such as the issuing country and passport type, making it a valuable addition to the vetting process.
