Dubai Unveils ‘Dubai+’ Digital Platform to Expand Family Entertainment and Creative Economy

Dubai has approved the launch of Dubai+, a new family-focused digital media platform, as part of broader efforts to strengthen the emirate’s position as a global hub for digital media, film, and the creative economy.

The initiative was approved by Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, during the Council’s first meeting of 2026, held at Dubai Media.

A new chapter in Dubai’s digital media strategy

Dubai+ will deliver a wide range of content catering to all family members, featuring a curated mix of local, Arab, and international films and series. The platform reflects Dubai Media’s integrated digital ecosystem approach, aligning with evolving audience preferences and changing digital consumption habits.

During the meeting, Council members reviewed sector strategies and future plans aimed at enhancing content creation, innovation, and local production capabilities across Dubai’s media landscape.

Media as a driver of impact

Highlighting the strategic importance of media, Sheikh Ahmed said that media plays a vital role in shaping awareness, supporting development, and building trust. He noted that Dubai’s approach focuses on innovation, skills development, and strong partnerships that transform creative ideas into tangible outcomes.

He added that the launch of Dubai+, combined with continued support for film and creative industries, will further reinforce Dubai’s leadership in global digital media and the creative economy.

Boosting local production and film initiatives

The Council also reviewed plans to expand local production capabilities and promote cinema as a form of cultural expression. Samr Al Marzooqi, Director of Films and Production at the Dubai Media Council, outlined upcoming initiatives designed to support the film sector through programmes that drive both creative and economic growth, while showcasing Emirati and international talent.

Members were also briefed on the upcoming UAE–Kuwait Media Celebration, organised by the Dubai Press Club, which aims to strengthen cultural and professional ties between the two countries through media collaboration.

Community campaigns and advanced technologies

The meeting, attended by Mona Al Marri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council, and Nehal Badri, Secretary General of the Council, also reviewed national and community campaigns led by Brand Dubai, the creative arm of the Government of Dubai Media Office.

Shaima Al Suwaidi, Director of Brand Dubai, presented outcomes from the second edition of the #ZayedAndRashid campaign and the Hatta Winter initiative under the #DubaiDestinations campaign.

On the sidelines, Sheikh Ahmed reviewed the latest external broadcast technologies being deployed by Dubai Media and its partners, including systems introduced in the Middle East for the first time.

Looking ahead

Mona Al Marri said the next phase will focus on closely monitoring strategic initiatives to ensure swift execution and measurable results across the sector.

Nehal Badri added that ongoing efforts remain centred on encouraging private sector participation, accelerating content development, and investing in talent, advanced production technologies, and future-ready capabilities to support long-term growth of Dubai’s media ecosystem.
