MPs Push for New Youth Centre in Wadi Al Sail to Support Young Talent
A dedicated youth center could soon be established in Wadi Al Sail in Bahrain’s Southern Governorate, following a proposal submitted by MP Dr. Ali Al Nuaimi aimed at expanding opportunities for young people in the area.
Dr. Al Nuaimi has urged the government to develop a purpose-built youth facility offering sports, cultural, and social programs designed to empower youth and nurture their talents. He highlighted that Wadi Al Sail currently lacks a dedicated youth center despite having a large and active young population.
“Wadi Al Sail currently lacks a youth center despite having a large and active youth population,” Dr. Al Nuaimi said. “This project is about investing in young people, providing them with a safe, structured environment to develop their skills, creativity, and sense of belonging.”
He added that the proposed center would play a key role in encouraging positive engagement among youth, helping them channel their energy into constructive activities while strengthening social cohesion within the community.
In response, the Youth Affairs Ministry noted that the Southern Governorate already hosts nine youth empowerment centers, in addition to one specialized center. However, the ministry acknowledged that there is room to further enhance youth services and improve integration and coordination among existing facilities.
The ministry said it remains committed to supporting initiatives that strengthen youth participation and development, stressing that expanding access to programs and facilities remains a priority in line with national youth strategies.
The proposal will now be reviewed as part of broader discussions on improving youth infrastructure and ensuring that services are evenly distributed across all governorates.
