New Parkonic–Mawaqif Smart Parking System Rolled Out Across Key Abu Dhabi Areas
Abu Dhabi authorities have announced the rollout of the AI-powered Parkonic–Mawaqif smart parking system across more than 15 key locations in the emirate, offering drivers a seamless, ticketless parking experience with automatic fee deductions.
The system has been activated in cooperation with Aldar Properties, Parkonic, and Q Mobility, under the supervision of the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC). Parking fees are deducted automatically from users’ Salik balance or Mawaqif account, eliminating the need for cash payments, tickets, or physical barriers.
Key Areas Covered-
The new system is now live in major destinations across Abu Dhabi, including:
Sheikh Zayed Festival, Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City, Dalma Mall, Yas Mall, Al Wahda Mall, Al Bateen Marina, Nation Towers – United Square, WTC Mall, Reem Park, Saadiyat Beach, Al Bandar Beach, Al Muneera Beach, Ajwan Towers, United Square, and Al Shahama.
In Al Shahama alone, 3,704 outdoor parking spaces have been activated, including 40 dedicated spaces for People of Determination.
AI-Driven, Ticketless Parking-
The Parkonic–Mawaqif system relies on Artificial Intelligence and Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras to record vehicle entry and exit. Payments are processed automatically via Salik, the TAMM platform, or DARB, providing a smooth, barrier-free experience.
At selected locations, users can also benefit from free parking periods, such as the first three hours at Dalma Mall on weekdays.
The system is designed as future-ready infrastructure, capable of supporting smart and autonomous vehicles, while helping to reduce traffic congestion and parking violations.
Enhancing Urban Living-
Khaled Al Rajhi, CEO of Aldar Properties, said the partnership marks a significant milestone in improving quality of life across Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, while reinforcing Aldar’s leadership in delivering advanced urban experiences.
Emad Al-Alam El-Din, CEO of Parkonic, added that the company’s technologies ensure secure, seamless access at every stage, reflecting a shared commitment to smarter and more sustainable communities.
Parkonic brings global expertise to the partnership, having delivered more than 170 projects and managing over 200,000 parking spaces worldwide.
Paid Parking System to Launch in Mussaffah-
Separately, Q Mobility has announced the activation of a paid parking system in the Mussaffah area, effective 12 January 2026, under ITC supervision.
The first phase will cover sectors M1, M2, M3, M4, and M24, with future expansion planned based on traffic demand and area requirements. A total of 4,680 parking spaces will be activated initially, including dedicated spaces for People of Determination.
The initiative aims to improve parking efficiency, support commercial and industrial activity, ease movement for visitors and employees, and create a more organized working environment.
How to Activate Automatic Parking Payments-
Drivers can activate the service by linking their vehicle plate number to their Salik account and enabling automatic payment through:
-
The Salik app or website
-
The Mawaqif app
-
The TAMM platform
-
SMS activation for selected services
Once activated, parking fees are deducted automatically from the available Salik balance or Mawaqif account.
